Quantum Processor Design Engineer 

Opportunity

Are you looking to develop your design and simulation skills whilst being surrounded by a wide range of talent? 

Working at OQC as a Quantum Processor Design Engineer you will take an active role in designing and developing our quantum processors and their surrounding infrastructure. You will work with our Quantum Engineers to understand which parameters are important to optimise, as well as the link between simulation and experimental measurements. This will include maintaining and improving our existing Quantum Processor Unit design as well as implementing design requests from other developers in the Quantum Systems team.

Role

As the newest addition to the team, your primary aim will be to work as a developer for our Quantum Processor Unit. The role will include circuit design, detailed analysis and simulation of the Quantum Processor Unit that OQC deploys. You will act as an advisor to the wider team for development solutions whilst maintaining high quality documentation to capture ideas and results.

Person Specification

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Master’s degree in physics/electrical engineering/RF engineering or similar plus Commercial experience OR a PhD in a relevant field
  • Good knowledge of python programming language
  • Familiarity using finite element method solvers, such as HFSS/Sonnet/Comsol etc.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work across multiple teams and disciplines
  • Ability to take initiative and work in a self-driven manner

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Experience of working with different software lifecycle methodologies 
  • An excellent understanding of RF/microwave principles, theory and design techniques
  • Experience in simulations of either quantum or RF properties of superconducting circuits
