We are Public Digital, a digital transformation consultancy and we help global institutions that matter thrive in the internet era. We apply the culture, processes, business models and technologies to help teams build and run excellent services. Working with the leaders doing strategy, and the teams doing delivery, we operate globally, advising large organisations and governments on six continents.
We’re values-driven, as articulated in our Public Digital positions.
Approach - as much as skill - is critically important to us as a team and we look for entrepreneurialism, initiative, kindness, and a willingness to pitch in. Our theory of change is: Digital. Teams. Work - we fundamentally believe transformation is about people, and that change comes from creating great teams and empowering them.
Role overview
Public Digital is delighted to be working in partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies, John Hopkins University and Results for America, to deliver specialist technical assistance for the Bloomberg Philanthropies City Data Alliance and What Works Cities certification.
This is an exciting opportunity to support delivery of these programs, working with cities across Canada, the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean.
You will work closely with the Program Director and our city coaches, liaising and coordinating with stakeholders in the program and in cities, and supporting our team of expert digital delivery practitioners.
What you’ll do with us:
- Work closely with the Program Director to organise, manage and implement the program from design, discovery, delivery and evaluation.
- Be responsible for organising and planning program activities, such as workshops, kick-off meetings, co-working sessions, masterclasses, and other events.
- Lead our measurement and reporting strategy, capturing insights from our work with cities to communicate the impact of our work
- Liaise closely with our program partner organisations and cities, and manage relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Plan, coordinate and support the running of virtual and in-person workshops and training sessions for cities, as well as the smooth running of team meetings, retrospectives and other events.
- Support city coaches in the delivery of technical assistance to individual cities, which could include doing desk research, supporting user research, running design workshops, etc.
What we’re looking for:
- You’ll be purpose-driven, and have a passion for making public services better
- You’re capable of navigating complex organisations and building excellent relationships
- You’re organised, love to plan, can manage multiple priorities and have great attention to detail
- You’re self-driven with high levels of initiative, and also enjoy being part of a fun, dynamic, supportive team
- You’ll have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including researching and report writing, and be comfortable designing and facilitating workshops (with our support of course!)
- An interest or experience working in digital, data or design
- Knowledge, experience and passion for working with cities and local governments is desirable
- Working fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is a bonus, but isn’t required
Important Note: Although this ad lists out what we look for in candidates, it is likely that we are missing other skills that you may have which could make you a great fit for our business. Research shows that female candidates tend to be less likely to apply to roles where they don’t check all the boxes over other genders. What we are therefore saying is if you feel you tick the majority of the boxes we have listed above, we would welcome an application from you as it never hurts to take a chance and apply!

How you will be assessed:
We would like to understand your background, attitudes, experiences and your motivation in wanting to work with us. We typically do this through the following process:
- A Blind Sifting - To ensure the fairness of the process you will be initially assessed by your anonymized CV and by your answers to any sifting questions which will be blindly reviewed by the talent team. We therefore recommend completing your application when you have time to answer these questions to your fullest ability. Please note that we have seen an increase in candidates using AI Bots to complete their answers, we use tools designed to detect AI generated answers and will reject candidates if we suspect they have used this technology.
- An initial phone interview of up to 30 minutes with the talent team, this call is designed to understand a little more about your experience as well as to understand your motivations for the role, why you wish to join Public Digital and to clarify any details from your application.
- A formal panel interview with the hiring manager and other members of the team. This will likely include a case study sent to you in advance where you will be expected to present on a topic, followed by a Q&A on your presentation as well as more general questions about the role and your experience which we also send in advance as part of our effort to ensure an equitable process.
- You will then have a more informal meeting with a peer, discussing topics more like company culture etc.
Closing date for applications: Friday 6th December
We encourage early application as we reserve the right, if required, to close this role ahead of the date advertised.
