What You’ll Accomplish
- Take responsibility for the hardware system design, and realisation of a complex large scale electronics control system.
- Design, build and test electronics products using your skills of analogue and digital circuit design together with industry standard CAD packages and test equipment.
- Write the documentation of your electronics circuits and verification tests.
- Develop your experience in a broad range of electronics engineering subject areas.
- Maintain the multidisciplinary collaboration with mechanical engineers, software engineers, physicists, working towards a common goal.
- Play a key role in building control systems for quantum computers.
- Maintain UQs’ position of using state of the art electronics solutions.
- Help in the planning and scheduling of projects, reporting progress and issues.
- Engage with project planning activities, risk management and scheduling requirements.
- Help with fast turn-around proof of concepts and feasibility discussions.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the firmware and software used to control quantum computers.
The 3 Most Critical Attributes We’ll Use to Compare Candidates
Excellent knowledge of electronics circuit theory and good EM field theory, including noise analysis and physical device knowledge. PCB schematic and layout using CAD tools, good manufacturing process knowledge and excellent verification/debug skills using electronics test equipment. Familiarity with digital system integration using HDL and high-level programming language and experience of mechanical / thermal awareness. Must-have Skills
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in high-performance Electronics Design including Digital, Analog and Embedded.
- Experience of PCB Design using ECAD (e.g., Altium, or similar).
- Use of spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes and VNA.
- Experience of FPGAs and embedded software engineering for real time systems.
- Experience with designing and application of wire harnesses.
- Experience of working with suppliers and contractors.
- Demonstrate a strong discipline for thorough documentation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Team Player.
- At least 2.1 BEng/BSc Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
Nice-to-have Skills
- A background in one of RF engineering, Research, Metrology and instrumentation.
- Understanding of signal integrity, high speed digital and EMC.
- Experience of C and/or scripting languages e.g., python and Matlab.
- Experience of Labview.
- Pragmatic approach to decision-making and design choices.
- Team and/or project management experience.
