About In-Space Missions and BAE Systems  

BAE Systems acquired In-Space Missions in 2021, and the two organisations have teamed to advance our space ambition by bringing all our space activities under a new, integrated business unit and leadership team which is focused on designing, building and operating world-class space missions for global customers.  

 

The new Space business unit now comprises about 220 staff across 3 sites at Alton, Guildford and Great Baddow. BAE Systems is committed to investing in Space to deliver new-space small satellite systems and space data products combined with the security and resilience of BAE Systems expertise in telemetry tracking and command processors, waveforms, electronics, antennas and digital signal processing and analytics. 

 

Due to continued growth, we are now looking for an Electronics Engineer to join us on our journey to deliver innovative capabilities within the space sector. 

 

Who are you? 

 

As an Electronics Engineer you will have experience of designing, developing, building and testing electronic systems. 

We are seeking someone who is willing to flex their priorities to support others where necessary and be comfortable working in fast-paced environment. It will require someone who takes pride in their work, and can present a professional face to clients, suppliers and partners. You will share new and useful ideas and when faced with an immediate opportunity, you will seek ways to tackle it first before asking for help. 

Experience in most of the following areas is required: 

 

Educated to at least degree - level or equivalent in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline 

Experience of writing/ following technical procedures; 

Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills; 

Ability to work as part of a team or autonomously; 

Calm and professional approach to work; 

Programming experience e.g. Python, Java, C/C++ is an advantage 

 

 

What will you be doing here?  

Your role will include working on a range of activities from technical studies, detailed design, development and test through to wider spacecraft support. You will get involved in work that will be critical to the success of our products and company. 

You will be comfortable working as part of a team to deliver projects to a variety of customers including institutional, academic and commercial organisations.    

You will work closely with our engineers you will be involved in and responsible for supporting; 

Design, development, prototyping, build and test of electronic devices and systems from initial requirements (technical and non-technical) through to launch and in-orbit operations;  

Detailed design activities including, Schematic production; Selection and procurement of relevant components and assemblies to support design and development activities; 

Definition and management of avionics subsystem/unit interfaces;  

Provision of technical inputs into definition of spacecraft test and flight harnesses and required test support equipment;
